1.   The so-called "medical stay visa"

This is a visa issued to non-national patients (including medical examinations) and their accompanying persons who are going to Japan for the purpose of medical treatment, etc.
 
(1) Acceptance range

    Not limited to receiving treatment in medical institutions, including health checkups, spa treatments, etc. be accepted.

    ※ The scope of acceptance refers to all actions specified by the medical institution in Japan (including Health Checkup, Dental Treatment, Rehabilitation (Including hot spring recuperation within 90 days, etc.).

(2) Multiple entry visa

    If necessary, several visas can be issued to foreign patients.

(5) Period of stay

   The longest period of stay is 6 months, and the period of stay depends on the condition of the foreign patient.

In addition, the "Certificate of Eligibility for Residence" must be obtained from the Immigration Bureau of the Ministry of Justice through the staff of the medical institution who is scheduled to be hospitalized, or the relatives of the foreign patient who lives in Japan.


2. Regarding visa application procedures
(1) Foreign nationals who want to go to Japan for the purpose of receiving medical treatment in Japanese medical institutions, etc., please refer to the list of guarantee institutions in Japan published at the end of this article, and contact one of them to arrange medical treatment and other related matters. (The list of guarantor institutions in Japan is currently being prepared. Those who wish to apply for this type of visa, please contact your nearest Japanese embassy or consulate for the relevant institutions that can arrange medical consultation).

(2) After confirming the medical institution that accepts medical treatment through a guarantee institution in Japan, the guarantee institution will issue a certificate of scheduled medical treatment, etc. of the medical institution in Japan and a guarantee letter of the guarantee institution in Japan (“medical institution による medical institution による scheduled medical treatment certificate And びShenyuan Guarantee Agency によるShenyuan Guarantee Letter") (If you need to submit a treatment schedule, please obtain it through the guarantee agency).

(3) For foreign patients, please prepare the following documents and submit a visa application to the Japanese embassy or consulate in the place of residence.
